What happened
ABB introduced the suite at ADIPEC in Abu Dhabi for sectors including chemicals, power, oil and gas, and water. It says operators can examine earlier incidents and simulate a proposed response before changing a process; the operator retains the decision.
The product page names three components: Anomaly Detector, Knowledge Extractor and Process Predictor. ABB’s 2022 research account described earlier work with OKEA’s Draugen platform, so this launch develops an existing research line rather than inventing the concept overnight.
Why it matters
Our analysis: the useful test is whether site-specific history improves decisions under changing conditions. A retrieved precedent may be misleading when equipment or procedures differ. The announcement does not establish independently measured reductions in downtime across customers.
What to watch
Watch for named deployments, measured false-alarm rates and evidence that operators can inspect and override recommendations.
