What happened
Bilibili's official repository says it opened free, OpenAI-compatible API endpoints for the preview Index-Translate-35B-A3B model on October 4. On October 3 it added official GGUF, FP8 and NVFP4 builds across the family. The original September 30 release includes 2B, 9B and 35B-A3B preview text checkpoints plus speech, syllable-controlled and long-document variants.
The text models are described as covering 150 languages. The repository is licensed under Apache 2.0, while users should still inspect individual artifacts and dependencies. Published benchmark tables are developer-reported; their normalized radar is explicitly not an accuracy percentage. Pricing, service guarantees and a date for replacing the 35B preview are not published.
Why it matters
The API lowers the barrier to evaluate translation quality, while quantized packages broaden local serving options. Organizations should test terminology, formatting and low-resource languages on their own material before production use; a broad language count does not guarantee equal quality.
What to watch
Watch for the final 35B-A3B checkpoint, stable API terms, independent evaluations and any artifact-specific licensing changes.
